In recognition of the Sibley County Sesquicentennial, The Sibley County Historical Society is reissuing the Henderson to Fort Ridgely Trail book originally published in 1976.

This edition is being updated to include many maps, photos, and articles. We have also footnoted and indexed the original text. An appendix including sections on Fort Ridgley, early fort settlers and defenders, the grasshopper invasion and much more.

SIBLEY COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL COMMEMORATIVE BOOKS
Published by the Sibley County Sesquicentennial Committee
and sold by the Sibley County Historical Society.

Two commemorative books recognizing Sibley County's sesquicentennial will be ready soon. "Bits & Pieces of Sibley County History" has a soft cover, contains about 250 pages and more than 50 pictures and illustrations. It includes all the stories that were printed in the newspapers; a history of county departments, elected officers and department heads that have served; and all county commissioners since the 1854 election that were listed. This book will have a complete history of the courthouse and county government buildings since 1855. The 1949 "Historical Facts of Sibley County" pamphlet will be reprinted as well as new information on townships that submitted their information. As a bonus the chapter on Sibley County printed in "A History of the Minnesota Valley", by Rev. Edward D. Neil, etal (1882) will also be included. Cost of this book is $15.00.

The second book is a collection of early plat maps of Sibley County. Plats for the years 1855, 1874, 1893, 1914, 1926, 1936, 1952, 1966, 1974, 1985 and 1997 along with their directories, if available, will be included. This will be an excellent tool for genealogists. For those that like plat books - this is the publication to have.

    St. Joseph's Cemetery
    "St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery" Henderson, Minnesota by Carmen Wigand and Stanley Wigand. This book includes stone transcriptions, plot map and listing by block and lot, of all burials.  Addition notes researched at the County Courthouse and in the local newspapers included. The Boys in Blue
We also have, "The Boys in Blue” available.  This is a Spanish American War history which includes the diary of John Curtin, the only Sibley County, Minnesota soldier to die in the line of duty, during the war.  It also includes brief items about other Sibley County men who served.  Cost of this book is $5.95 for members, $6.95 for non-members plus $3 per book for shipping and handling.
